Government Relations

The NEAEI works with govermental agencies to improve conditions and opportunities for productions throughout the state of Alabama, as well as counties and municipalities in our NE corner.

History

When the Alabama Entertainment Incentives Act of 2009 was passed into law, Representative Richard Lindsey, the bill's sponsor, teamed with State Senator Del Marsh and Jacksonville State University's Pete Conroy to devise a plan to allow for the Northeast Alabama region to actively participate with film and entertainment opportunities. The establishment of the NEAEI was approved by JSU President William A. Meehan in September of 2009 and since then, much progress has ensued.

Jacksonville State University (JSU) President Meehan selected and established a NEAEI Committee with the following members:

  • W. Peter Conroy, Chairman - Director, Environmental Policy & Information Center, (JSU)
  • Dr. William Fielding - Dean, College of Commerce & Business Administration (JSU)
  • The Honorable Richard Lindsey - Alabama State Representative
  • The Honorable Del Marsh - Alabama State Senator
  • Director Nisa Miranda - Director, Center for Economic Development (Univ. of Alabama)
